New Term Task

For this task i will talking about the Starwars Empire at War mod, Stargate Empire at war. Overall i think this game is very good and i will tell you why, no doubt there are many flaws in this game as there are in many others, i shall also speak about those.

What makes this game addictive is its 3D battlefields, just like its predecessors from Totalwar who created the best seller series, such as Medieval Totalwar and my all time favourite Rome Totalwar who majored in large scale 3D battles. As well as it being 3D you can have your battles take place in space or land, which do i think is more impressive i would have to say space battle on this game are far better, because there is so much more you can do. spawning system is so much easier, you just drag the unit icon from the unit area after it has been created and then drop it into the spawn area, which is good because you can only spawn your units where the fog of war has been lifted. there is a variety of units on both sides, with a variety of heros and normal units.

This is not the same for land battles it would appear so that they did spend as much time and attention, the buildings supply you with limited attributes there are limited upgrades and units, however the way in which to spawn your units is in a similar way. there is not much i can really say about the land battles as there is very little to it.

For Stargate fans such as myself this is a dream come true, being able to use this iconic units and making your own outcome provides many hours of fun and it has taken many hours off my life.

Another aspect of the game that makes it so addictive, is the galactic conquest. This game mode starts you off with a planet and a fleet and land invasion force, aim of the game to go around and conquer planets, againing resources and command points. As well as the 3D battles taking place in real time the campaign takes place in real time, so unlike Rome or Medieval Totalwar you don't take turns planning out your moves trying to predict your enemys forces, you have to adapt to the moment. When you engage an enemy force, you either have the choice in auto resolve it where the computer decides, or you can face your enemy in a real time battle where you decide the outcome depending on the actions you take.

There is one pinicle factor in which i do believe which could have been changed, which is to add more factions add more diversity to the game. Even though every game is different and how you play it maybe different but because there is a limit of only two factions, there is only an amount of times you can use the same units over and over again before eventually it gets boring.

Even though i have displayed the positives and negative about this game i do believe the positives do out weigh the negatives. So in my opinion i believe this to be a good game, a very good game indeed.
